What are Account Locks?

Account Locks let you manually assign specific accounts to territories and protect those assignments from being changed during territory design. When you lock an account, you're telling BoogieBoard: "Don't change this assignment—we've already decided where this account belongs."

When to use Account Locks

We always recommend performing Account Locks before asking BoogieBoard to generate territory designs. This ensures your most important assignments stay protected.

Strategic Locks

Protect accounts where human connections matter most:

• Long-standing relationships: Rep has built strong connections over time
• Recent moves: Account was recently transferred and shouldn't move again
• In-flight opportunities: Active deals you don't want to disrupt
• Executive relationships: C-level connections that need continuity

Exception Locks

Make exceptions to your Territory Model logic:

• Account families that need different treatment than your standard grouping rules
• Special business arrangements that don't fit normal segmentation
• Custom scenarios that require manual intervention

When you create rule override locks, BoogieBoard logs them as exceptions so you can track where your actual assignments differ from your Territory Model logic.
