The Role Assignments tool is where you define the actual territories, connecting people to the parts of the business they are responsible for. Up until now, each node in the tree has represented a segment of your go-to-market structure, like a region or business unit. Now it's time to turn those segments into actionable territories.
BoogieBoard creates territories based on role assignments. Coming up, we will tell BoogieBoard:
”We need territories for five Account Executives in the Strategic business unit”
and it will create five distinct territories inside that node, one for each AE. Accounts or geography are then distributed across those five roles.
Assignments are made per role type, per node. This means you can assign both Account Executives and BDRs to the same segment, and BoogieBoard will create separate sets of territories, one set for each role type. Just drag each role into the node where they belong, and BoogieBoard will handle the rest.

Each Node opens its own tab in the Territory Model builder. And each tab has its own navigation bar. You will use these tabs and navigation to access important information and steps along the territory planning process.

The next step in our guide is to adding roles to each segment, beginning with the Strategic node.
Make sure you have the Strategic tab selected and click on “Role Assignments” in the navigation bar.
In your Role Assignments screen you should see the Available Roles tool on the right with the Account Executive role that we created earlier. In the center, you should see empty dropzone into which we will drag a role to assign to the node.
