Assigning via the Role Assignments View
Users can be assigned to roles in one of two place:
The Node Assignment Designer
Navigate to the Territory Model, select the desired Node, click “Role Assignments” from the Node navigation.

Roles whose Role Type is not marked as a Territory Owner behave like overlays. Think of them as support or shared roles that sit “on top” of territory ownership, such as Sales Engineers, Customer Success Managers, or Regional Leaders.
These overlay Roles can be connected to territories in one of two ways:
Roles can be explicitly added to specific territories where it’s needed. The role remains local to the territories to which it is assigned.
This gives fine-grained control, letting you design territory-specific account teams.
To assign a role to a specific territory, drag the role on top of the territory to which it is being assigned in the Node Role Assignments View.
When a Role is marked as inheritable, it automatically applies to every territory in the hierarchy — both existing and future ones.
This means you only need to define the Role once at the top level (like a “Global Customer Success Manager” or “VP of Sales”), and BoogieBoard will automatically attach that Role everywhere it’s relevant.
Inherited Roles are ideal for:
If a new territory is created later, the system automatically includes these inherited Roles without manual intervention. You can think of it as a “global coverage layer” that trickles down the node tree.
